Friendship Day: Learning, Laughing and Growing Together!

At William Ransom Primary School, we believe that friendship is one of the most important building blocks of a happy and successful school life. That’s why we were so excited to celebrate Friendship Day — a day dedicated to exploring what it means to be a kind, respectful and caring friend.
Throughout the day, children across the school took part in a wide variety of fun, creative and thoughtful activities designed to nurture essential life skills such as conflict resolution, empathy, problem-solving and teamwork.
Inside the classroom, children engaged in meaningful discussions about what makes a good friend. They explored how to connect with others, how to handle disagreements calmly and how to support one another with kindness and respect. Many classes wrote short stories and friendship scenarios, imagining real-life situations and brainstorming positive ways to respond.
To bring these ideas to life, pupils took part in role-play activities, practising how to navigate tricky social moments and how to show understanding and compassion. These activities helped build confidence in speaking up, listening carefully and working through problems together.
Out in the playground, the fun continued with a range of traditional and new playground games that encouraged inclusion, teamwork, and laughter. These active sessions helped children see how games and play can bring people together and strengthen friendships in a natural, joyful way.
The creative energy didn’t stop there! Children also had the opportunity to express what friendship means to them through artwork and writing. Bright, colourful creations filled the classrooms, each one a unique reflection of the children’s understanding of kindness, respect and belonging.
At William Ransom, we know that friendship matters — and we’re proud to be growing a community where everyone feels seen, supported and included!
