At the end of every games unit in PE, every class takes part in an end of unit tournament to conclude the skills we have learnt and work on our competition skills. Today, Rowan class finished our unit on basketball and spent the afternoon in competitive spirits out on the MUGA.
The children did not disappoint! Split into 5 teams, everyone played 4 competitive matches helping us work on a number of important PE skills. Teamwork, support and cooperation were high on our list of requirements. We've been struggling in our games lessons this term to work with peak teamwork and a gamesmanship attitude, however, the children absolutely excelled themselves today by working in their teams to do their best, work together and support everyone towards a common goal.
After every game we shook hands and were led in 'Three Cheers' by the Captains. Every team then chose their 'Players' Player' of the game for the opposition and bonus points could also be given for exceptional team work. Mrs Herbert and Mr Howard were also looking for their 'Teachers' Player' of the tournament and at the end all points and nominations were collated.
Wonderfully, 13 out of 27 children were nominated for 'Players' Player' and 6 children were shortlisted for 'Teachers' Player'. In the end, 1 children were chosen for each category and we had a tie for 'Tournament Winners'! We all thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and are looking forward to our games unit on Tag Rugby in the new year. Well done Rowan class, we were exceptionally proud of how well you all did today - keep it up!
