  • Make a mummy!

    In history this week, Elm performed the mummification process to see how wealthy people like pharaohs might have been turned into mummies. First, we prepared the body by washing and removing the organs. Then, the organs were put into canopic jars (except the heart).  After that, we dried the body using natron (salt) and spices to fragrance. Finally, we wrapped the body in bandages before laying it to rest in a sarcophagus, with some personal items. Did you know...the Ancient Egyptians sometimes turned animals into mummies too? Make a mummy!

  • Models of the River Nile in Maple

    As part of our history unit on Ancient Egypt, Maple class has learnt about all the ways people depended on the River Nile. We then worked in groups to make models of the river.

  • Year 3 Easter Egg Sewing

    Maple and Elm classes had great fun this afternoon sewing Easter and Spring decorations. We practised our stitches and planned our designs before carefully sewing our creations. Thank you so very much to our parent and carer helpers - we couldn't have done it without you!

  • Year 3 Visit Radlett Synagogue

    This week, Year 3 had an exciting visit to a synagogue as part of their learning about Judaism. The children had the opportunity to take part in a range of activities, including trying on traditional Jewish clothing and reading from the Torah scroll using a yad. It was a wonderful hands-on experience that helped deepen their understanding of Jewish traditions and culture.

  • A Rat-tastic Visit in Year 3!

    This week, Year 3 got to meet a mischief of rats and their owner. Through their reading of 'The Pied Piper of Hamelin', their rat research and this real-life encounter, the children are becoming 'v-rat-ible' rat experts! They are now excited to share their knowledge and write their own rat report later in the week.
